Hivekan is not trying to replace every tool on the market. It aims at three specific situations.
Data that must not leave the building
Practices, engineering firms, laboratories, legal and HR departments, subcontractors under a confidentiality clause. When a client or an auditor asks where the data is hosted, the answer fits in one sentence: on our own server.
Teams that already run a server
A NAS, a machine at the back of the server room, shared hosting sitting half empty. PHP, SQLite, Apache: if those three already run, Hivekan runs - and you add nothing new to administer.
Teams that refuse to pay per head
Growing teams, seasonal staff, outside contributors, shared accounts. Billing per user turns every new hire into a budget line and every departure into a negotiation. Here the price does not move.
It is not for you if you want to administer nothing at all, if you need turnkey hosting with an availability commitment, or if what you actually need is portfolio management: Gantt charts, capacity planning, multi-entity consolidation. Better said now than after the purchase.
Per-user subscriptions are expensive, and they never stop.

Zero outbound requests
Every library is served from your own server. No CDN, no tracker, no call to any third-party service - not even to the vendor. Hivekan needs no Internet access at all to run.
The source code, delivered
You receive the complete code on purchase. You can audit it, have it audited by the contractor of your choice, and modify it for your internal needs.
No lock-in
No activation key, no online check, no user counter. Nothing in the software can ever lock you out.
GDPR by construction
Since the data stays on your server, you are its sole controller. The vendor never has access to it, and therefore has nothing to subcontract.
What protects your data, and what stays on your side.
The software runs on your machine, so security is shared. Here is exactly who holds what.
What the software does
Passwords hashed with bcrypt, never stored in clear. HttpOnly, SameSite session cookie. An anti-CSRF token required on every write. Log-ins temporarily blocked after five failures per IP address, with a per-account counter. Permissions checked server-side on every call, never in the interface alone.
What you install can be verified
Every release is cryptographically signed (RSA-4096). The update module refuses an archive whose signature does not match the public key shipped with the software: an archive tampered with in transit will not install.
What you must do
Serve the site over HTTPS, keep PHP current, and close the data directory to direct access. The .htaccess files do that under Apache; under nginx, a server block is provided. The software checks by itself that this directory is not being served, and warns you if it is.
What you will know
Every release comes with a changelog naming the vulnerabilities fixed, their severity and what they exposed. It ships inside the archive, and it is written to be read by the person deciding whether to update.

Hivekan runs on PHP 8.0 or later with the pdo_sqlite and mbstring extensions, behind Apache or nginx. No containers to orchestrate, no database to administer, no build chain. A ready-made nginx server block ships with the software.
On your internal network
A company server, a NAS, a dedicated machine at the back of the server room. Reachable from your teams' workstations, unreachable from outside - unless you allow it, for instance through your VPN for remote work. No Internet access is required, neither to install it nor to use it.
At your hosting provider
Shared hosting, a virtual private server or a dedicated machine, at the provider of your choice. Your teams connect remotely, from anywhere. The data stays on the server you picked.
Either way, installation is the same: copy the files, grant write access on one folder, open the address in a browser. The database creates itself on first access. Allow five minutes.

Hivekan is sold to companies, public bodies, associations and self-employed professionals, for their business needs. The sale is made by our reseller Paddle, which issues the invoice: EU businesses with a valid intra-community VAT number fall under the reverse charge and pay €590. Failing that, Paddle adds the VAT of your country. Your exact total is shown on the order page before any payment.
After the 12 months
You lose nothing.
Your licence is perpetual: you keep the version you received and its source code for good, whether you renew or not.
Continuing updates and support are optional, at €120 excl. VAT per year. With no automatic renewal.

Every visitor gets their own instance, independent of everyone else’s, and it is deleted after four hours: create, move and delete freely - nobody else sees it, and nothing of it survives.
What we get asked most.
Is Hivekan open source?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Hivekan is source-available software under a commercial licence: you receive the code, and you may read it, audit it and modify it for your internal use. What you may not do is redistribute or resell it.
Can I modify the code myself?
Yes, without restriction for your internal needs, and the changes you write are yours. Just note that support does not cover faults introduced by your own modifications.
What if you go out of business?
That is the right question to ask a small vendor. Two answers: you already hold the source code, so nothing stops. And the contract provides that, should the business cease permanently, or should sales and maintenance stop for more than twelve consecutive months with no successor, your licence automatically converts to the MIT open-source licence for the last version in your possession.
How many users can I create?
As many as you want. The price does not depend on the number of accounts, and nothing in the software counts or limits them.
Can I import my existing boards?
There is no automatic import from market tools yet. For a large migration, write to us: we look at bringing your data over case by case.
What happens after the 12 included months?
Nothing. Your licence is perpetual: you go on using the last version you received for as long as you like. Only support and new versions require the renewal, which stays optional.
If I do not renew, what happens to security fixes?
You keep the version you have, and its source code: nothing stops working. Fixes published after your twelve months reach you if you renew. If you do not, you remain free to apply the corrections yourself in code that is yours - which is exactly what shipping the sources makes possible, and what hosted software never allows.
How is the software delivered?
By email, within one working day of payment: a personal download link, the archive, its cryptographic signature and your named licence. Delivery is done by hand, by the vendor himself - the flip side of a vendor who answers in person. If you order on a Friday evening and need it right away, write in and we will see to it.
